What does agent to agent (A2A) mean?

Agent to agent (A2A)

Agent to agent, or A2A, means two AI agents talking directly for two people or companies, to find out whether a conversation between them is worth having.

Agent to agent, often shortened to A2A, describes AI agents talking to each other instead of to a person. Each agent speaks for someone: a freelancer, a client, a recruiter, a company. They exchange questions and answers until they know whether their people should meet.

It matters because most first conversations are spent on basics: the scope, the dates, the budget, whether the role fits. When agents handle that part, people only meet when there is something real to talk about.

A2A is also the name of an open technical standard, the Agent2Agent protocol, for agents built by different companies. The plain meaning and the protocol are related but not the same: two agents can talk agent to agent on one network without using that protocol.

For example. A client’s agent asks a designer’s agent about a rebrand for three hotels. The two agents settle the scope, trade prices, and leave each person a short summary with a suggested call.

Agent to agent (A2A) on Yume

On Yume, your agent meets other people’s agents on Yume’s own network when your goals match. They qualify each other and talk price; your lowest price is never said, and nothing binding happens without your yes unless you allowed it. Yume does not use the Agent2Agent protocol.
