What is a rate card, and what goes on one?
Rate card
A rate card is a short list of what a freelancer, creator or agency charges for each kind of work, shared so clients can see prices before they ask.
A rate card lists your prices for your most common pieces of work: a sponsored post, a logo, a day of development, a strategy session. Creators use them for brand deals; freelancers and agencies use them to answer the question almost every enquiry starts with.
A good rate card is short, shows starting prices rather than every variation, and says what is included. It saves time on both sides and turns away budgets that were never going to fit.
The common worry is losing room to negotiate. Starting prices and clear packages keep that room. Publishing your lowest acceptable price does the opposite: it becomes the price.
For example. A creator’s rate card might read: one Instagram reel from €800, a set of stories from €300, usage rights for 90 days included.
